Jacob "Kobi" Goren
Vice President-Operations
Jacob M. Goren (“Kobi”) is a highly accomplished soccer coach, talent scout, and mentor to world-class athletes for over thirty years. Since 1976, Kobi has coached countless soccer players at all levels, with an emphasis on young athletes. His goal is to instill in them a winning attitude and the importance of integrity, character, and personal excellence..
In 1994, Kobi initiated an annual two-week long “Kobi Camp” program to train youth players for the National Maccabi Athletic Games. Players on the Los Angeles team reside in a small town for the duration of the accelerated program, where they spend their time together training and team building: practice twice a day, share meals together, share housing, and spend all recreational and free time together.
“Kobi Camp” has been a runaway success. Under Kobi’s leadership, the Los Angeles Mens Soccer Team earned the highest prize at the Macabbi Athletic Games – a gold medal - for fourteen consecutive years.
Many of Kobi’s players have been selected to play competitively at the most prestigious universities in the country, including Tufts, Dartmouth, UCLA, UCSD, Santa Clara University, UC Irvine, Cal State Northridge and others. In 1999, Kobi was appointed by Steve Sampson as a scout for the Olympic Development Program.
Most recently, Kobi joined Steve Sampson in launching The Global Sports Institute, an organization that trains top athletes and prepares them for success at the best colleges and clubs in the world. Kobi is currently the Vice President of Operations.
